Alexander Gounder: How I broke WordCamps in India

I attended my first WordCamp in 2012. It was overpriced, badly managed and barely had anything to do with WordPress. What caught my attention was that some folks who sponsored or mentored the event were sole to blame for the mess. There was a need for a stronger WordPress community.

Over the next year, we started meetups and got together like minded people. In 2014 we organized our first WordCamp by a Meetup Group rather than an individual in India.

The core idea is we should welcome disruption of status core and challenge vested interest to grow as a community.
